Last week of school before the Christmas holidays....

On Tuesday afternoon of this week, Yr1 had a really busy afternoon:

Firstly...
it was our party!!
Yum, yum!! With lots of fun!!
Then....
the children performed their 'Gummy Bear' dance for the whole of Primary and some of the children in Secondary.

The classroom has been a hive of shiny activity as the children use Art and DT skills to produce various Christmas decorations... No sneak previews here as you will soon be receiving the real thing!

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2014!

Concert 1G info

Some parents may be wondering what tartan, kilts and Scottish monsters are and what exactly we want 1G to wear for the concert.

Tartan is a thick, woollen, checked material. It was worn hundreds of years ago in the Highlands of Scotland. Each family, (Clan) had their own tartan and Chief. For example, the Grant clan has its own tartan.

The kilt is made of tartan and is the traditional dress of Scotland, worn mainly by men, nowadays usually to celebrations and on traditional occasions like weddings.

Monsters refer to the tradition that in Loch Ness a monster lurks. The Loch is so deep that it hasn't been explored thoroughly and several people claim to have seen the monster!
A Loch is a lake!

Basically for the concert, children in 1G should wear something checked. If not anything blue, or blue and white! We will be making a headband in class.
Thanks!

On Friday 29th November, Mrs Hall's husband, Mick, came in to school to work with 1H. (Mick used to be an Art teacher).
The children worked with 'press print' and printing ink to create bells for a Christmas display in the secondary hall.

The children had a great time mixing colours, rolling out the inks and watching their work appear on the cartridge paper....

Do look out for the large circle in the secondary hall where it will be on display with the work from all of the Primary school.....

The Christmas Concert is fast approaching!!!.....

The children have brought, or will be bringing home their words to learn for the 'spectacle'.... Please help your child to learn the rhyming couplets in a loud and clear voice.

Do watch this space for information re the clothes the children will need to wear.
The children in Y1G & 1H have really been enjoying our work on the book by Alexis Deacon, entitled 'Beegu'.
The story  is great for talking about friendship and feelings and so linked very well with the whole Primary schol Friendship week.
We found a version on YouTube and here is the link if you would like to share the story together.....

Fundraising and Friendship.

This morning we all came to school in our pyjamas! Teachers too of course. We were raising money for the Philippines.

We all brought our teddies and they came with us to our Friendship Assembly in the Big Hall. We all shared what we had been doing in Friendship week.

Mrs Cook brought in the Get Caught reading box!

My Teddy was really enjoying his day out!

Mr Davidson had written a special Friendship song for us to sing.

At one point we thought we had a new class member!

We drew pictures of ourselves and our friends in pyjamas

While some of us made made Hot Chocolate!

And ate cookies.

And Marshmallows!

Two spoonfuls now!

Yum yum that was good.
